IEP Checklist is now being used for IPhone or IPad
Touch. The application assists with
formatting a person’s Individualized Education Program (IEP). When a category is chosen about the IEP on
the app, there is a small summary of the legal requirements and a chance for
the owner to write notes.
“This application can empower families and equalize the
relationship between families and professionals,” said Paula Goldberg,
executive director of the PACER Center, a Minnesota training center. “I can
also visualize young people working on their own IEPs, being able to reference
the federal regulations that say that their transition goals are supposed to be
based on their strengths, needs, preferences and interests.”
IEP Checklist was
created by the Parent Educational Advocacy Training Center in Virginia. The organization is national. They are funded by the Department of
Education.
This app is at no cost.
Its focus is to make the IEP process more convenient minus the need for
pen and paper. IEP Checklist can be
found at the Itunes store for download.
