The Meaning of No Judgment Day

Let me be the first to wish everyone a Happy No Judgment Day.  What does this day mean?  It’s a simple move to begin to erase stereotypes of people with physically/mentally challenged by a devout activist group.

In 2001, Mike Wambach went to a school district office to inquire about becoming a substitute teacher.  It was there he met Mike Berkson a young student who has cerebral palsy.  The pair became fast friends and created a stage show about their friendship called “Handicap This.”

The goal of “Handicap This” is to increase knowledge about people who at birth were affected by serious physical/mental challenges.  The men want to encourage all people to chase their goals and dreams.  They are performing a special show tonight to heighten their mission with their slogan “No Judgment Allowed” in honor of today. 

Apparently, Wambach and Berkson’s message is well -received.  As one student who saw the show states, "We loved it, it was funny, entertaining, emotional, informational, and unique, and something everyone should see."

El significado de No Judgment Day

Quiero ser el primero para desearles a todos un feliz día de la sentencia No.  ¿Qué significa este día?  Es un simple movimiento de empezar a borrar los estereotipos de las personas con físicamente y mentalmente cuestionada por un grupo activista de devoto.

En 2001, Mike Wambach fue a una Oficina del distrito escolar para informarse sobre cómo convertirse en un maestro sustituto.  Fue allí que conoció a Mike Berkson un joven estudiante que tiene parálisis cerebral.  La pareja se convirtieron en amigos y creado un espectáculo de teatro sobre su amistad llamado "Handicap esto."

El objetivo de "Handicap esto" es incrementar el conocimiento sobre las personas que al nacer fueron afectadas por graves problemas físicos y mentales.  Los hombres quieren alentar a todas las personas para perseguir sus metas y sueños.  Está realizando esta noche un programa especial para realzar a su misión con su lema "No sentencia permitió" en honor del día de hoy.

Al parecer, está bien - Wambach y del Berkson mensaje recibido.  Como un alumno que vieron los show de los Estados, "nos encantó, era divertido, entretenido, emocional, informativos y única, y algo todo el mundo debe ver."

College Guide Assists Students

College can be difficult for anyone.   A student attending college with a mental challenge such as autism may experience more difficultly. The “Navigating College Handbook” aims to assist with that transition. 

The handbook offers first-person experiences of college life through the condition as well as honest discussion.  It explores subjects from classroom adaptations to roommate dilemmas.  The handbook also explores adjustments the student will incur in their social lives and classroom.

   

“Navigating College Life” was created by the Autism Self Advocacy Network.   It is said to be the first handbook that focuses on people who have autism rather than support systems helping the person with autism transition to college.  Its length is 100 pages long.

The handbook is obtainable in two ways.  A person can download it at no cost.  There are also hard copies to be purchased at a cost.

Guía asistencias universitarios

Colegio puede ser difícil para cualquiera.   Un estudiante asistir a la Universidad con un reto mental como el autismo puede experimentar más difícil.   El "Manual de colegio navegando" pretende contribuir con esa transición.

 El Manual ofrece experiencias de primera persona de la vida universitaria a través de la condición como discusión honesta.    Explora a temas de adaptaciones de aula a dilemas de compañero.  El manual también explora ajustes que el estudiante incurrirá en su vida social y el aula.

"Explorar la vida universitaria" fue creado por la red de promoción de auto de autismo.   Se dice que el primer manual que se centra en personas con autismo, en lugar de sistemas de soporte de ayudar a la persona con la transición de autismo a la Universidad.  Su longitud es de 100 páginas.

 El manual es obtenible de dos maneras.  Una persona puede descargarlo sin costo alguno.  También hay copias que se pueden adquirir a un costo.

Teacher Teases Students on Facebook

Jeremy Hollinger allegedly made fun of one of his students with mental challenges on Facebook.  Hollinger also targeted other students for their incontinence problems and eating crayons.  His Facebook also is derogatory toward the school system.

Celeste Dennis is a mother whose son was initially the focus of the Hollinger teasing.  Dennis said her son wears a helmet for a seizure condition.  Hollinger posted a picture of himself on Facebook wearing the helmet and smiling.

Dennis remarked, "My son wears a helmet for seizures during P.E. He had a picture of himself with my son's helmet on making fun of him like that was some type of a joke."

Dennis chose to move her son out of that elementary school in Alabama.  School officials put Hollinger on administrative leave.  The school system can’t make any statements because of the personal nature of the topic.

Profesor burlan a estudiantes en Facebook

Jeremy Hollinger supuestamente hizo divertido de uno de sus alumnos con problemas mentales en Facebook.  Hollinger también a otros estudiantes para sus problemas de incontinencia y comer crayones.  Su Facebook también es despectivo hacia el sistema escolar.

Celeste Dennis es una madre cuyo hijo fue inicialmente el foco de la Hollinger fastidiar.  Dennis dijo que su hijo lleva un casco para una condición de incautación. Hollinger publicó una foto suya en Facebook usando el casco y sonriente.

Dennis comentó: "mi hijo lleva un casco de convulsiones durante P.E. Tenía una foto suya con casco de mi hijo en lo divertido de lo que fue algún tipo de broma."

 Dennis decidió mover a su hijo fuera de la escuela primaria en Alabama.  Funcionarios de la escuela ponen Hollinger licencia administrativa.  El sistema escolar no puede hacer declaraciones debido a la naturaleza personal del tema.

Medicaid Restricts Hospital Time

A small number of states are restricting Medicaid’s hospital coverage.  This action hopes to decrease Medicaid’s rising expenses.  Hawaii is looking to limit hospital time to less than 10 days yearly on the coverage in April 2012.

Activists and hospital personnel say restricting Medicaid will limit accessibility to patient care.  It will also cause hospitals to occur more expenses, and also become costly for people with personal insurance.  Patients might also postpone looking for services if the Medicaid restriction is reached the groups stated.

State representatives disagree with this viewpoint.  They see the Medicaid action as a way to assist in making budgets more equal.  They also feel it will be a start to ending federal stimulus funding.

 

This is just one idea being activated to regulate Medicaid expenses.  Ideas like this were discussed regarding Medicaid because of more people on the insurance and increased medical expenses.  Total spending on the insurance was expected to increase by 11% in 2011 according to the National Association of Budget Offices.

Medicaid restringe el tiempo de Hospital
